Welcome

We create experiences that discover strengths.

Experiential learning fosters growth through connections to self, each other and place. Please explore our programs and services and reach out if you would like more information.

Outdoor Education

Momenta offers year-round outdoor education and leadership programs in Winnipeg and throughout Manitoba. Programs focus on connecting and building relationships through nature exploration, canoeing, biking and hiking. As participants develop outdoor technical skills, they also develop the pro-social skills, communication and interpersonal skills necessary to overcome challenges within a group and learn about themselves, others, and place.

Forest and Nature School

Forest and Nature School programs are designed to connect children to nature. The curriculum is developed by observing children’s play. When themes emerge, we use inquiry-based learning to build knowledge or solutions. Children are encouraged to interact with nature with all their senses, develop socially, build curiosities about the world, find calm, be physically active, be stewards of the land, and be in nature in safe and age-appropriate ways.

Professional Development

Momenta has been listening, learning and leading since 2006. We offer professional development to share our expertise. We provide workshops and keynotes for professionals working with youth across Canada. Our models and strategies are created from research in social work, youth development, experiential education, and adventure therapy and tested in the field at our programs.

We had an AMAZING day with the migrators (older group) at last Friday’s inservice! We threw ice and snow on the frozen creek, broke the ice with large sticks and pieces of ice, collected big and small pieces of ice from the creek, explored the rocks on the creek and listened to the running water, made jam and other fruit reductions on the stove, enjoyed hot chocolate, created an art gallery with pieces of ice and relaxed in the hammocks! We noticed so many smiles and heard so much laughter. We spent the entire day outside in the sun! ☀️🧊✨💦 📍Treaty 1 #RelationshipWithLand

These past few days were spent at the @aeeintl conference in Madison, Wisconsin. #aee51 I (Lise) was excited to share this experience with some of the Momenta team. This community is where we find a professional home, where social justice and experiential education is part of all aspects of the organization. Recently, @aeeintl has published the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Field Guide: Stories of Lived Experience. Even more recently a reflection deck has been created to support the book. “It is a book of personal experiences, raised voices, and differing opinions that embody the spirit of Dr. Nina Robert’s and address social challenges that have existed and still exist today” (aee.org) As I and my friend Sugar eagerly go to purchase the reflection deck (we are both authors in the book), I begin to tell Sugar that each story has it’s own reflection card. Sugar opens the tin box that holds the cards and picks up a section of the deck. She glances at the card and says “is that my name?!?” [photo 3] I smile and say “you pulled your own card!” And we both laugh and appreciate this special moment. Our team was proud to present two workshops at the conference: Relationship With Land (Adrian Alphonso, Lise Brown and Oliver Hill), and Honour, Connect, Reflect: Sequencing to Optimize Impact (Lise Brown with Bobbi Beale) Thanks @aeeintl 💚 📍The land of four lakes #RelationshipWithLand
