Momenta has been listening, learning and leading since 2006. We offer professional development to share our expertise. We provide workshops and keynotes for professionals working with youth across Canada. Our models and strategies are created from research in social work, youth development, experiential education, and adventure therapy and tested in the field at our programs.
We are happy to combine trainings into a day event, host your annual retreat or design custom training to meet your needs. We value relationships and are happy to design long-term consulting and training plans with organizations.
Some of our most popular workshops include:
Strengths-based behaviour management
This workshop will focus on strengths-based behaviour management, the benefits of such a model, and clearly defining problem behaviour and why it occurs. Finally, participants will learn proven implementation strategies and components of the Momenta approach to client-centred behaviour management.

Introduction to Forest and Nature School
Join Momenta to learn about the seven relationships of an ethical Forest and Nature School in Kanata. A model developed at Momenta and delivered Nationally by the Child and Nature Alliance of Canada. Forest and Nature School takes place outside and is an approach that focuses on maintaining a balance of seven relationships: land, trust, power, play, risk, story and learning. At the centre of the seven relationships is where we hold space for the learner – the WHY of what we do. This workshop takes place outside and is an introduction to this model.

Reconciliation Readiness
Momenta works with organizations to learn truth, reflect on place and history and make reconciliation commitments that benefit Indigenous Peoples.
This training series is facilitated by Lise Brown, Co-Founder at Momenta and Adrian Alphonso. Adrian is a Band and Community Member of Waywayseecappo First Nation, he leads on Treaty One Territory to honour truth and reconciliation and inspire a connection to the land.
At Momenta we teach to and lead by our values in Wînipêk, in Treaty One Territory. Treaty One was signed in 1871 by the original peoples of the territory – the Anishinaabe and Nehiyaw Peoples. Wînipêk is the heartland of the Red River Métis.
At Momenta, we commit to knowing the truth and responding to the calls to action of the Indian Residential School survivors. We are currently accountable to Calls to Action 90, 83, 11 and 13. Momenta’s Reconciliation reports are published in the annual Winnipeg Indigenous Accord which is accessible to the public from 2020 to present. We will continue to set goals with actions and lead by our responsibility for reconciliation. Miigwetch to Murray Sinclair and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada for guiding all of us to Truth & Reconciliation.

Working with Momenta on creating a Behaviour Based Model for Siloam Mission was fantastic. They came in with a clear work plan to get us from where we were to where we needed to be, and every step of the way, they engaged community members and direct service staff in the process. This meant that we had the right people creating the model, those who would model it and live it, and that meant it was easier for folks to begin to implement it because they understood and participated in its development.
Momenta also had the best practice research built into the model making and the model itself – as you can see in our model.
As we commit to moving to Best Practices across all our operational areas, the work with Momenta on the model baked that into the process.
It was also great to have an external partner leading the work, partly because they brought expertise and dedicated time to this project as we maintained operations. They also created spaces for feedback where staff team members felt comfortable voicing doubt and opposition. They brought that to us anonymously so we could work on the necessary training, internal communications and supports for our team to adopt the model. Momenta also designed and facilitated all the training necessary for the model to be implemented and then supported us to have that capacity in-house (both by video and by supporting our teammates to lead training).
This work would not have been as successful or efficient without their professional guidance.

The folks at Momenta are masters in connecting all people with nature in a way that respects the land and its traditional caretakers. As an organization with similar principles, we value this and have found our partnerships with them to be incredibly meaningful.
